Back in July, I’d been researching advertising and making money on this site. I’d also been trying to design the new layout. As I’m not a big fan of giant ads, or having a million different things going on, I was a bit picky in choosing what I use. Finally after the new layout is said an created, I finally know how I want to run this monetization stuff, and hopefully it will work for me. Here’s the breakdown:
- Adsense: Some hate it, others love it. This one was an easy choice. As I don’t expect to make a killing I will go with the attitude that every penny counts. I’ve decided that I will use only one Ad Block per post.
- Buy Me A Beer: From what I can tell this one also works with mixed results. I’ve heard this one only works if you have a high-traffic blog, well I’m working on that! Also I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve as to how to make this one a gem.
- Text-Link-Ads: I’ve also got one banner spot on the bottom of the page (either just above or below the fold depending on your monitor size) While it may not be an optimal position, I still feel that given the layout this may help me score to money from TLA ads or referrals.
I may modify this a bit maybe add something if i can think of it. Hopefully this new layout will go over well

Ok, maybe I just want the submission from the backlink i’m sending him but either way, everyone should know about this contest!
Win a 24″ LCD & a Signed Copy of The 4-Hour Workweek!
John’s teamed up with the MillionDollarWiki to bring you a chance to win 24″ wide screen LCD monitor from LG, and a signed copy of the 4-Hour Workweek.Â? No doubt I love this book, i’ve blogged about it a few times and it’s just phenominal but I could also use a new monitor.Â? Oh, and I lent out the book to a friend and don’t think I’m getting my copy back any time soon so I could use the signed one
Anyways, if this combination of winnings doesn’t help you earn money online, I don’t think anything will.Â? Head over to John’s blog and comment for a chance to win!Â? Also you can save $10 on a MillionDollarWiki purchase if you use the coupon code “JohnChow.”
Good luck, and happy earnings!

So today I got home from work and found an email from YPN. Here’s what it said:
“Did you know you can receive your Yahoo! Publisher Network payments more quickly? Our convenient PayPal payment option requires a minimum earning of only $50, instead of $100, so you don’t have to wait as long for your paydays.
There are other benefits of choosing PayPal, too:
- Same-day payment—no waiting 7-10 days as you would with a check.
- No-fee transfers to your PayPal account. So you don’t pay more for more convenience.”
I’m impressed. Now i’ve been trying to spread my sites out between Adsense and YPN, and i’m finally close to the $100 payout for YPN. Paypal with YPN is a definite option for the future. Way to go YPN!

So on July 31st I got an email from Pay Per Post telling me about something new from them for facebook called “The Tack.” Basically here’s the info. In my opinion the trainwreck starts here.
Well I say that because I am NOT a fan of PPP, even though I understand it does make some people quite a bit of money. My opinion which I know is shared by at least a few others is that by sponosoring posts you are potentially losing your ability to state your own opinion and become more or less a salesperson.
Anyways, rant aside, I think that the combination of Pay Per Post in the Facebook realm is bad news. I’m already a bit uneasy about all the new applications popping up for Facebook everyday, and this one just happened to frighten me a bit more than usual.

Most people should know I’m a huge hockey fan. Well here’s a fan everyone (but i think it favors hockey fans)
Ed Lau and Michael Kwan need your help in naming their new hockey blog! You might know Michael from his freelance writing and Ed from his personal blog. If you come up with the best name, you could win an 8GB iPod Nano totally free!
…so what if i took the text right from Ed’s post. I don’t feel like thinking too much. Here’s the link to the whole deal.

I’ve mentioned the 4 Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss in the past. Come to find out John Chow is giving away a copy of the book that’s been autographed. To get a chance to win the book all you need to do is head over to his blog and comment.
Good Luck!
