Site Review: www.BloggerLounge.net

BloggerLounge, what the heck is that!? Well let’s take a look.

BloggerLounge.net is a blog that’s been around since December of 06′. It’s run by a guy by the name of George C. The posts seem to be intriguing, to the point, and well written. The site seems one part blogging critic, and one part blogger resource. George’s comments allow for a bit of his personal opinion on topics, advertising, branding, themes. Also though George has created a very good resource and insight on those very topics.

Here’s what I like:

Great design advice. At the BloggerLounge, you will notice there are professional looking logos all over the site. George has certainly put some time into designing the look and feel of the site. Also he gives sound advice on the use and creation of logos for your own blogs.

George is big into blog branding. Honestly this is something I hadn’t much thought about prior to finding the BloggerLounge. Now, I see it as an important aspect of selling your blog to both you current and potential future readers. It doesn’t matter if you are trying to pull a profit from your blog, the branding series offers great insight into selling your blog to the reader.

Free themes!? Yep, you heard me. These aren’t those cheapo run-of-the-mill themes either. George is ovbiously a talented designer and also shares some of his themes with his readers. The themes weren’t just a one time thing either. Since the beginning of April, there has been a new theme released just about once a week. Here’s the most recent!

Why am I reviewing this site?? Well honestly, since I’ve stumbled across it, it has become one of my favorite blogs. The content of the posts are great; honestly reading this blog seems to challenge me to go back into Photoshop and try to better my own design skills, and take a stab at creating a theme or two.

Site Review: www.JohnChow.com

Now let’s piss some people off. I hate blog for money and love innovation. John one of the biggest “blog for money” moneymakers out there, why do i review him? Because he is one of the few people who can do it right.

I’ve been reading John’s blog since late December, and he’s got something there. Yeah the majority of his content is based on making money online, he’s got his little things he does to keep the reader interested.

He does quite a few restaurant reviews. They always seem to make me hungry, or want to go visit these places to eat. (Saying I want to eat there, and I could afford eating there are two entirely different things.)

The thing I really like about John’s site is that while he has no argument against blogging for money, he has diversity to his postings. It seems that so few who blog for money have any diversity to their topics. John also had quite a few posts on technology and gadgets. That’s the stuff I like. (SD USB drive anyone?)

And for the money… There’s no shortage of it. John has great posts about travels, gadgets, food, but the money is what attacts attention. Ok when he makes thousands a month, people want to see what’s up. Can you blame them?

John’s got a good blog. Err… Great blog. I better watch what I say, he may start trying to throw rocks at me if i’m not nice enough. After all he is evil.

Site Review: www.Ubertablet.blogspot.com

Who is Hugo Ortega? A Blogger, a Vlogger, a Microsoft MVP? Possibly just another guy who loves playing with tech gadgets? Try all of the above!

Hugo is a blogger and vlogger who is just nuts about tablet based gadgets. He’s been honored with recognition of Microsoft MVP or Most Valuable Professional for his work with Tablet PCs. If there’s news in the air about a new tablet or ultra mobile pc device, chances are Hugo’s got the scoop, and possibly even a video for his readers! This is certainly a blog to check out for those interested in computers and mobile tech gadgets for more than a few reasons.

What I like about Ubertablet:

  • Hugo is great at sharing knowledge about a device. He’s got a great video that shows readers what is up with the Ultra Mobile PC. He goes through an overview, then shows how it is used, what applications come with the devices, then goes into a bit of games. Very personable, fun to watch, it’s not an infomercial, it’s not a how to. The video introduces the device to the reader and hopefully keeps them engaged enough to watch all the way through.
  • Ok, so Hugo’s kind of a big deal. He was sent the Fujitsu 1610 before it had come out. He had posted a video and actually was told by Fujitsu to pull it down until they gave the OK. I guess the lesson to be learned here is simple: Hugo knows his stuff, and can get his hands on the “top secret” goods. He’ll also share what he finds with his readers. Even if maybe he should wait a week or two before posting the videos ;-)
  • Since he’s a big deal, he got a chance to work with Audi for the Melbourne Auto Show. Just watch the video.

Can I complain:

Maybe? I guess if anything it would be for Hugo to get his own domain. I don’t know how many times i’ve typed “ubertablet.com” and gotten nothing.

Just go ahead and subscribe to Hugo’s blog now. Trust me, the content is addictive!

Site Review: www.BryanLe.net

April 5, 2007 – 9:26 am| By admin

Well I need to congratulate Bryan for winning the Blogger NCAA Tournament Winner that was started by David Lithman. I’d been in first for a good while there, then all my teams lost! Congrats on pulling out the win.

So BryanLe.net, what’s this all about? It is the blog of emerging entrepreneur Bryan Le. Bryan is runs Brius Webhosting, Forum Shock, and Survive Digg, but this is where Bryan gets to let loose. From the looks of it, the blog has been around since February of 2006 so there’s plenty of good content if you want to just sit there and read for a while.

Why do i like it?

I like Bryan’s blog for a few reasons.

  • I’m a big fan of website design. BryanLe.net sports a theme that is very clean and allows for easy navigation around the site.
  • Let’s look at this guy’s content. From the looks of it he knows a thing or two about the business of the Internet. He’s got his hand in a few websites, as well as making quite a few posts about affiliate programs, pay per post, and similar stuff. He’s dishing it out like it is, not “sign up using my referral BS”, he’s just telling you bout the product or service how it is, what it does, and how it’s working for him.
  • I’m liking this stuff because it’s being looked at from a down to earth level. I don’t think Bryan’s quite at mega-Internet-mogul status, but that’s ok. That’s what makes his posts more practical and easier to read.

Any complaints?

Only one. It took me a little while to realize this because i was navigating the site without much issue until I realized I didn’t have a way to sort his posts by category. Everything seems to be under “Daily Dose”. That’s all the complaining i’ve got to do. Overall that’s a very solid site. Great design, solid information given from a down to earth level. You can not go wrong by adding it to your feedreaders.
